Make your bed! 🛌

"If you make your bed every morning, you will have accomplished the first task of the day. It will give you a small sense of pride, and it will encourage you to do another task and another and another." Admiral William McRaven

This quote speaks wisely about one of the myths of Motivation. At one point in time, many of us heard that we must first feel motivated to take action. This statement posed a whole different set of questions. One of the most popular ones was: Then, how do I get motivated? To me, personally, one of the questions that resonated the most was: Where?

Where do I find this so-called Motivation? In books, quotes, people? Where?

It turns out that after many years of running around in circles, we had it all wrong.

The starting line in this {circular} race is not motivation. It never was. And before you get annoyed, thinking I will introduce a whole new concept. Breathe. Because we "just" had the formula inverted. Action leads to motivation and not the other way around.

Even if this inversion seems unharmful or not a big deal, it does make an absolute difference. It is action that sparks everything. Another myth flying around was that motivation needed to come from an external factor. However, when the conclusion that action was the genesis, the big bang of dreams, the most potent first move, this myth also started to be solved. The conclusion, one very powerful, is that both come from within ourselves.

Again, action leads to motivation. If we as individuals decide to take action, then motivation will follow, and consequently, more action will follow. True. We do not necessarily need external factors, as we can control when, where, and how to take action. But what we could all need from time to time, is a nudge, a slight push to begin.

Act Now is a tool design to do exactly that. To nudge you into making that first action of the day, the one needed to spark that little (but crucial) sense of pride as the quote suggests, which will trigger more and more actions. Act Now can help you spark your Monday, Tuesday, or even Sunday big bang. It is a tool that will keep you accountable about yourself and your goals in an easy, intuitive, and daily way. Act Now can also help make your goal feel more reachable and real, as it provides the framework to tackle it daily. It focuses on the bricks that need to be laid that day, not building the entire wall.

Act Now is not just for the list and checklist lovers out there; it is for anyone that wants to experiment or improve with their routine.

Other ways that Act Now can positively impact your goals:

It will provide a time audit framework. (In what exactly are you investing your time?)

Block out distractions.

Set the scene to do things NOW.

Transform actions into habits.

It will make you--make your bed!

"Don't just sit there. Do something. The answers will follow." (Mark Manson)

In other words, ACT NOW!
